Sophomore Year Timeline

Fall:

  • Meet with your school counselor at the beginning of 10th grade.  Talk with them about test dates and college fairs, course selection, etc.

  • Take the PSAT Test (Fall) as a practice in October.

  • Register for AP exams.

  • Take practice ACT and practice SAT to determine which exam to take during Junior year. 

  • Use time management skills and keep studying. 

    Winter:

  • Midterms: Approach teachers for help and consult when needed.

  • Continue to save your work in your academic portfolio.

  • Attend College Fairs.

  • Research college websites. And sign up for virtual tours and informations sessions.

  • Follow college’s social media accounts.

  • Meet with school counselor mid-year to create course selection for Junior year. 

    Spring:

  • Investigate volunteer or ‘job shadow opportunities’ in your community.

  • Get involved and stay involved in extracurricular activities.

  • Explore and search potential career ideas.

  • Map out a standardized testing plan for junior year. Know which test you plan to take, when and your plan to prepare for it.

  • Work or volunteer or do something that is fun and meaningful to you during the summer months.
